South Dakota Leads The Way With Blender Pumps

South Dakota is leading the nation with its new blender pump plan. The plan is to add over 100 new blender pumps at gas stations that want to be included in the program. Blender pumps allow the retailer to sell blended ethanol fuel at different percentages through the same pump, making the fuel station more appealing to drivers of flex fuel vehicles. Way to go South Dakota!

Companies That Do The Right Thing

Check out this article about responsible business practices. It details different steps some companies take just because it is the right thing to do. For example, Clif Bars gives employees a $5000 loan if they buy a hybrid vehicle, and under some conditions the loan is forgivable after 5 years. Companies that take the extra step because it is the right thing to do for not only their customers and employees, but the world as a whole deserve patronage.

Arizona Looks At Eating Local

Here is a look at the whole concept of making sure that most of your food comes from your local area. This is both a healthier way to eat as well as a way to eat that cuts down on fuel use. How does it do that? If everyone were to eat more locally grown food products, there would be less fuel used to send food products from out of the area. A very smart idea indeed.

The EPA Awards From Its P3 Competition

Loyola University of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne have both won awards from the Environmental Protection Agency. The awards come from the EPA's annual P3 competition (People, Prosperity, and Planet). This is a big honor for these two schools and the recognition does not go unnoticed in the world of alternative fuel enthusiasts.
Students at Rowan University are experimenting with using different vegetable oils as fuel. They are trying to determine which oils process better and which oils make a better fuel after the processing. Research like this, even on a smaller level, can only help the world become less dependent on petroleum.
